The festival takes place every year and lasts until August 31st, coinciding with the country’s monsoon season. The festival has several activities on various religious, economic, heritage, social, cultural, sport and entertainment fields, and is considered one of the major festivals in the region. The festival also has many cultural programs, such as the ‘traditional village’, which highlight a side of traditional handcrafts, arts, games, meals and costumes.

Several exhibitions representing government and private sectors in various cultural, arts, technical and communication areas will also be showcased. The Khareef Season (monsoon season) attracts families annually from various cities of the Sultanate and the GCC countries, as it provides a cooler and far more comforting climate than the desert heat.
