Tunisia To Upgrade Hotels

Tunisia’s Minister of Tourism Mr. Khalil Lajimi chaired a steering committee meeting on Thursday to review a new program to upgrade the country’s hotel units. Presidential measures needed to implement the program were discussed and the minister urged committee members to ensure good quality of diagnostic studies. The 154 approved applications represents about 35% of the total number of hotels. Recent official data shows that 75 percent of hotels committed to renovations have started the upgrading program, and 20 hotel managers have achieved 50 percent of their target plans, with the help of 150,000 dinars premium for each hotel unit. The State has so far approved premiums in excess of 10 million dinars.
