The 210 metre-high Dubai Eye, which is being developed on a manmade island by Meeras Holding, will overtake the new High Roller in Las Vegas (standing at 167.6m) as the world's tallest such attraction. Even the New York Wheel, currently under construction on Staten Island, will be 60 feet shorter. The ferris wheel will include 48 luxury capsules capable of holding 1,400 visitors and offer views of Dubai’s iconic landmarks such as Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa, according to Meeras.

Additionally, an 80 metre LED screen will be mounted on the wheel that’s hoped to create an innovative electronic platform for broadcasting movies, advertisements, and interactive information. The area around the ferris wheel will have an entertainment plaza featuring a bespoke souq, al fresco dining outlets, retail stores and a big hall where fresh food produce will be sold in a traditional market atmosphere.
The project aims to be completed by next year.
