Joining the #MyDubai initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, the ‘Capture Creativity’ competition will run until April 15, 2014, during ‘Dubai Art Season.’
Reaching out to the community, the Instagram competition is aimed at encouraging residents and visitors of the UAE to share photos and videos capturing their creative moments during ‘Dubai Art Season,’ which unites five of the city’s premier events including Art Week, which features Art Dubai, Design Days Dubai, and SIKKA Art Fair, the Middle East Film & Comic Con, and the Gulf Film Festival, as well as over 150 events being activated across the Emirate.
Instagram enthusiasts can explore and share a variety of events under ‘Dubai Art Season,’ spanning workshops, outdoor art projects, art exhibits, and live art & music in public spaces, to encapsulate their creativity.
The competition, which complements the goals of the #MyDubai initiative, aims to foster a culture of expression, where participants, are encouraged to capture the creative essence of the city through their own interpretations.
Saeed Al Nabouda, Acting Director General, Dubai Culture & Arts Authority, said: “The overarching goal of Dubai Art Season is to integrate the community with the evolution of the city’s creative landscape. Through the ‘Capture Creativity’ competition, we are reaching out to residents and visitors to share their creative moments, adding to the existing and continuously growing rich archive of photography and videography captured by the ‘#MyDubai’ initiative.”
To participate in the ‘Capture Creativity’ competition, visitors should follow Dubai Culture’s and MyDubai’s Instagram accounts, and use the hashtags #MyDubai, #dxbarteason14, and #samsungnxart in their posts, to be eligible to participate in the competition.
Each week, three winners will be selected, and the winning image or video will be announced on the social media platforms of both entities. Winners will walk away with a Dubai Art Season VIP passes to the initiative’s pillar events, and one of three Samsung NX cameras, enabling them to continue capturing all of their creative moments.
