Dubai Flights From India Reach 300: Indian Pilots Protest

Flights from India to Dubai hit 300 because more than 300 pilots working for Jet Airways staged a sick in to protest the firing of two colleagues. All India radio reported at least 120 flights were affected including flights to Dubai, Singapore, Columbo, and Kuala Lumpur. The National Aviation Guild and Jet Airways have been in talks over the airlines dismissal of two senior pilots last month. The National Aviation Guild claims to represent more than 650 of 1,000 pilots working for Jet Airways. Union officials explain the two pilots who were fired had formed a trade union body, and their dismissal was “an act of vendetta.”. Jet Airways counters that the matter has been referred to the regional labour commissioner and conciliation talks are ongoing, so any strike action is illegal.
