E-gate system starts at Riyadh, Damman airports

The Saudi Passport Department has introduced the e-gate system at King Fahd International Airport in Damman and King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh to help passengers enter and exit. The Passport Department said the e-gate facility will be available at other airports in the Kingdom soon, so people will not have to stand in long lines at immigration counters in order to get their passports verified and stamped by officers. The system will take an average of 5-7 seconds to process one person through the electronic immigration gate. An official at the King Fahd International Airport said the passport will cost SR200 a year.
