Etihad Will Order Engines Valued At $6.7bn

Etihad Airways will announce at the Paris Air show this week that they will place engine orders, including service, valued at $6.7 billion. Sources say the engines will be for 100 Airbus SAS and Boeing Co.aircraft. The Middle East is one of the few areas in the world where there is cash to spend on new engine purchases. In general, aircraft manufacturers must work hard to keep their current contracts and engine makers must fight hard to make new sales. If an additional 105 options are added the engine orders may reach $13 billion. The planes are scheduled to be delivered between 2011 and 2020.
