Experience the culture of Dubai this DSF
Published by Irhal
Dubai Shopping Festival has usually been about shopping - and very little about culture and heritage. The tourists who visit the city admire the steel and glass edifices that represent all that is new about Dubai and go back awed and impressed by the progress made by the city. But there are a few who follow Shania Twain and say these buildings "don't impress me much" and go back with the vision of a cold,…

But all that is about to change. This year's DSF will feature an exposition of four weeks of Emirati culture and heritage put together by Dubai Culture - an organization set up to promote Dubai "as a vibrant, global Arabian metropolis that shapes culture and arts in the region and the world."
Four weeks of culture, entitled "The Dubai Heritage Season," will be held at Al Shindagha Historical Neighbourhood and Hatta Cultural Village. During the first week traditional dances and cultural activities will be held followed by a week dedicated to introducing visitors to a traditional Emirati wedding providing insights into traditions and customs that are carried out during a typical Emirati wedding. The third week will feature a range of traditional craft skills ranging from spinning wool to sword carvings while the final week will host exhibitions featuring Emirati crafted products.
If you have already done Dubai as a shopping destination you may want to visit the city again this year and take in the culture that Dubai has on offer.
