Analysts say purchases are likely to be dominated by airlines from emerging economies including parts of the Middle East, China and India.
It has already been revealed by an Emirates Airlines spokesperson that the airline would be announcing its purchasing plans at the show, detailing the exact number of aircrafts and the manufacturer. They remained mute on the Reuters story published earlier stating that Emirates planned to place a $5 billion order for 20 Boeing 777 wide-body jets.
The Farnborough show also traditionally sees a number of orders placed for military jets but with governments slashing their defence budgets to help reduce huge public deficits this year, major government deals are expected to be minimal.
The Airshow starts today and will run until July 25.
