June 28 - The daughter of fashion mogul Paulo Gucci, is facing a legal challenge from the Gucci group after she announced plans to open a chain of hotels starting with one in Dubai later this year. Elisabetta Gucci unveiled plans earlier this month to open an 87-suite hotel in Dubai under the brand name of EG Hotels by Elisabetta Gucci. The Gucci Group said that it has had no involvement in the project, and said: "Gucci wants to make clear that it has no relationship to Elisabetta Gucci Hotels... If necessary, Gucci will take any needful step to protect its rights." Lorens Ziller, managing director of the EG Hotels company said Elisabetta Gucci had no comment to make on the lawsuit. "Elisabetta Gucci is doing her job," Ziller said recently. "She cannot cancel her name or her background. If she has a famous name or a famous background, that's not her fault and we are not trying to use it as much."

The Dubai hotel is set to be the first of 40 locations that EG Hotels is aiming to open around the world in the 15 years.
