ay 27 - The Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) announced on Wednesday that it would set up a historical hotel company. The decision came at a conference for the First International Urban Heritage for Islamic Countries that started yesterday in Riyadh and will continue through Friday. Salah Al-Bakheet, deputy director for investment at the SCTA, said that the project had been presented to the government for approval. The new company will develop several historical buildings owned by the government in KSA and turn them into hospitality houses and hotels while preserving them at the same time, he said. The Historic Hotels of Europe Secretary-General, Barbara Avdis, was also present on the occasion and presented European examples of historic hotels. She said that Islamic countries must form a union to preserve their Islamic urban and historic heritage.
