Mubadala, EoN to build luxury resort on Maldives

developer Eon Resorts, have formed a partnership to develop an exclusive ultra luxury resort on the Maldives it was announced on Tuesday. Viceroy Maldives is currently under construction on the crescent shaped island of Vagaru in the Shaviyani Atoll, about one hour north of the capital Malé.

The 61 room hotel is the latest addition to the hotel and operator portfolio of Mubadala Real Estate and Hospitality as part of its expansion plans. The Viceroy Maldives will be one of the biggest in the Maldives, with 1,345 to 3,300 square feet of indoor space, and private outdoor areas, all with plunge pools. The property will have 61 luxury villas on the beaches ringing the 17-acre Vagaru Island, and over the crystalline water. “Viceroy Maldives is an important addition to our hospitality portfolio and a significant step in expanding the luxury Viceroy brand to premium business and leisure destinations around the world” said John Thomas, executive director of Mubadala Real Estate and Hospitality.
