Niyama opening in the Maldives
Published by Irhal
Maldives, April 2012 – NIYAMA, Per AQUUM’s latest addition to their award winning portfolio is now open. This hotly anticipated resort is turning the Maldives upside down with a plethora of options to get guests active and incite a sense of discovery, stimulation and fun. This exciting new concept is, of course, paired with the natural beauty and tranquillity of the Maldives so those who just want to sit back,…

DINE & IMBIBE As a Per AQUUM resort, NIYAMA was sure to introduce iconic experiences to the Maldives and the dining options do not disappoint. Tribal brings a new unique concept to the Maldives. Designed like a modern day campsite, guests sit in specially designed pods surrounded by live cooking stations with dishes influenced by tribes from South America, Africa and Asia. Cooking methods include hot rock grills, asados and open flames. Another innovative concept for NIYAMA is Per AQUUM’s Deli-In with an a la carte menu of gourmet deli items such as ice creams, cheeses, olives, cold cuts and wines all pre-stocked in each Studio and Pavilion. The in-room popcorn makers with complimentary corn kernels add that additional element of fun. Fahrenheit is perfect for refreshing drinks throughout the day transforming into one of island hot spots at night with spectacular ocean and sunset views. Sip frozen cocktails and Champagne while nibbling on gourmet canapés as live musicians and DJs fill the air with head bobbing, toe tapping beats until the early hours of the morning. NIYAMA is also home to the world’s first underwater music club, Subsix. This one of a kind venue is located 500 meters offshore and six meters below the surface of the Indian Ocean. Opening in late May guests will be able to enjoy a rotating line up of international artists from the United States, Asia and Europe with the full set list to be released shortly. Edge appears to float on the surface of the Indian Ocean and will open at the same time as Subsix. This signature restaurant and lounge is also located 500 metres offshore with 360 degree views of the sunset and Indian Ocean from the cocktail lounge under the conical shaped roof.
SLUMBER Secluded beach views, fibre optic lit private pools, 24 hour butler service, the latest in entertainment technology and expansive private sunbathing decks are just some of the features on offer in one or more of the 7 room categories of NIYAMA: • 22 Beach Studios (160sqm) • 20 Beach Studios with Private Pool (180 sqm) • 22 Water Studios with Private Pool (180 sqm) • 14 Deluxe Water Studios with Private Pool (200 sqm) • 4 Beach Pavilions with Private Pool (250 – 350 sqm) • 2 Water Pavilions with Private Pool (255 sqm) • 2 Ocean Pavilions with Private Pool (350 sqm)
LIME SPA Offering appointments 24 hours a day, LIME at NIYAMA has a range of ‘After Dark’ massages, perfect for those who are looking to induce sleep. LIME has also introduced a time concept as part of the Private LIME experiences where you book the length of your treatment and the Spa Concierge will tailor your experience to your exact needs – whether that is a massage, wrap, facial or just some down time in your spa sanctuary. Of the eight treatment rooms; two overlook the lush vegetation while six overlook the lagoon. There is a dedicated Skin Bar for in depth skin consultations, a Lime Tree contemplation garden, Quench, the juice bar and Pump the 24 hour gym.
DIVERSIONS & JOURNEYS Interaction drives the ‘Diversions and Journeys’ at NIYAMA. Think Nintendo-Wii, remote control boats and buggies, weekly movie nights and water sports; all ideal for keeping kids and adults entertained. PADI dive courses and numerous water sports are available at
FLOAT. There is a Marine Biology lab for coral rehabilitation and education. Books, magazines and DVDs can be found at The Lair, while the more adventurous can explore the Maldives on board one of the luxurious yet traditional sailing Dhonis.
