The new Munich Trade Fair Centre, where the event is being held, is expecting more than 1,880 exhibitors from 59 countries, 44% of whom are drawn from international markets. Together, these exhibitors will cover the entire spectrum of global and intermodal movement of goods by road, rail, water and air. Also being held in conjunction with Transport Logistic is the 5th Air Cargo Europe Conference, which takes place on 11th May 2011.

Mohamed Sherief Padiyath, General Manager Cargo, Oman Air says: “Oman Air Cargo has been posting very positive results and, with the addition of new routes, it is important that we increase awareness of Oman Air Cargo Services within the destinations that we already operate into, as well as other destinations within the region as part of our expansion plans. Participation in niche exhibitions such as this, that sees transport and logistics operators from around the world congregate in one venue, is sure to be successful.“

He added: “Our THROUGH UNIT product has been very successful and our airport handling partners have witnessed more business from Oman Air in the areas that we operate to than before - in fact almost twice as many. Cargo carriage increased by 99% and cargo revenue increased by 238%. Our focus at Oman Air Cargo is now shifting towards enhancing our service promises to all customers worldwide. “We continue to focus on developing our product and service reliability to win customer confidence worldwide. As a result, we are adding trucking network into our service portfolio, effective 1st June 2011. This trucking connectivity will help Oman Air Cargo customers move their large-sized freight faster and more effectively within Oman and other GCC countries.”

The positive trend in the global freight business is also having an impact on the figures for Transport Logistic 2011. It is seeing a further rise in exhibitor numbers, following a record result in 2009, the year of the global financial crisis.
