A team from the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities uncovered remains of a palace dating back to the 7th Century during an archaeological excavation in the Al-Ateeq valley of Madinah. The palace is believed to have been built during Umayyad regime, which is the second of the four major Islamic caliphates that came after the death of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
