To acknowledge and celebrate Oman's creative women, Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Sultanate of Oman and the Bait Al Zubair Foundation present an exhibition titled "Brides of Photography." Scheduled to open on 17 April 2012, the exhibition is part of an ongoing series of exhibitions held at the resort's art gallery dedicated to promoting the art and culture of Oman to the world. The Brides of Photography exhibition will display pieces by 80 top female photographers of Oman. The creative works reveal the eclectic vision of the photographers, focusing on landscape, portraits, still life compositions, feelings and narratives. Moments are frozen in time and captured by the talented photographers, who play and draw with light and colour.
All of the photographers are members of the Omani Society for Fine Arts Photography Club, which has assisted with the Brides of Photography exhibition. The works were previously displayed at the Second Female Photographers Exhibition held last year at the club's headquarters in Athaiba.
"Photography is a state of emotion felt by the photographer that is captured in a moment which reflects their soul and fascination. This show represents a great step in the journey of photography and the talents of the young women behind the camera," said Maryam Mohammed Al Zadjaly, director of the Omani Society for Fine Arts.
Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, chairman of the Directory Board at the Oman Photography Club, said, "These pictures have exceeded the beauty of composition, and include symbolic and moral drama. They represent a beautiful panorama of the numerous topics."
The exhibition will run for the next three months at the art gallery of Al Bandar hotel in Shangri-La's Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa, Sultanate of Oman. Open to the public, the gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
