Stranded passengers get free tourist trips in Abu Dhabi

April 23-The 2,500 passengers who were stranded in Abu Dhabi for almost a week because of the suspension of flights in the aftermath of Iceland’s volcanic ash cloud were given complimentary tours of Abu Dhabi’s favourite tourist spots. Talking about the programme, Ahmed Hussein, Deputy Director General ADTA, said: “We are currently working with partners on creating stop-over programmes for the very healthy numbers of passengers transiting Abu Dhabi International Airport. This has been an unexpected trial run but the response has been highly encouraging and demonstrates the potential.”
