Third UAE budget airline seeks clearance

June 4 - There will soon be a third low-cost airline in UAE after approvals are given to it for take-off, said Saif Mohammad Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) yesterday. Dubai’s first budget airline, Flydubai celebrated its first anniversary recently. The airline has flown more than 750,000 passengers in the first year of its operations. Flydubai flies to 16 destinations at the moment and plans to have 40 destinations by 2011.
