Rising floodwaters reached Bangkok’s domestic Don Muang airport on Tuesday, forcing airport closure and airlines to suspended their operations in the city.
According to the BBC, the Bangkok floods 'could get worse.'
Governments from around the world, including the UAE, are issuing travel warnings to Thailand, and advising travellers to stall any plans they may have of visiting the region.
Here are a few health related facts pertaining to the floods, that should deter you from visiting right now:
- Public health officials say so far some 750,000 people have been affected by water-borne skin infections.
- Across Southeast Asia, the monsoon season has led to almost 800 deaths, especially in Cambodia and Thailand, but also in Burma, Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines.
- The United Nations says aid workers are struggling to help more than 8 million people across the region, with thousands still receiving little or no assistance.
