The eyeshades feature stunning sunglasses designs – from the classic Wayfarer to the iconic shutter shade made famous by Kanye West.
The eye wear has been designed and created by Saima Anwar who spent around 10 hours on each using some 3,000 Swarovski crystals coloured red, white and blue.
“Luke Miles, Head of Design for Virgin Atlantic said: “Getting a good night’s sleep on board a long haul flight is priceless to our passengers and our iconic red eyeshades have been helping flyers rest for the past 28 years.”
“To celebrate our new amenity kits we wanted to create something unique and demonstrate just how valuable it is to get some shut eye.”
The airline handed these out Thursday September 6th on flights to or from eleven cities including Chicago, Boston, Los Angeles and New York.
Virgin isn’t the first airline to take a stab at producing blinged-out amenities kits. Back in 2011, Etihad launched Swarovski studded kits for their first class passengers.
