East Boston exists for most visitors as Logan International Airport, but the neighborhood around it earns a footnote of its own. Practically: the airport's terminals connect by free Massport shuttles to the Blue Line's Airport station (about ten minutes to downtown) and by the Silver Line SL1 to South Station, and an interfaith chapel serves travelers within the airport (location and hours - verify with Massport). Hotels at and around Logan, led by the walkway-connected Hilton, are the sensible answer to 1 am Gulf arrivals or early departures with children. Beyond logistics, Eastie is one of Boston's great immigrant neighborhoods - today strongly Latin American - and Piers Park delivers what may be the best free skyline view in the city, with an excellent playground, ideal for burning children's energy on departure day.
