Reviews say the place is old but clean with helpful staff and a friendly doorman. There’s apparently an ice-cream shop a few minutes walk away that is highly recommended (ask the doorman about it.) It’s a great place to stay if you plan to explore Madrid by foot, so stay there if you don’t want to spend time and money on the commute around town.
