Health and Safety

Although Sydney is a very safe city, there are places where you should take particular care of your bag or wallet. For example, there is a high alert on George Street near Town Hall station since local gangs began roaming the area. There is also a guard around Central Station because theft is possible there. Sydney’s least safe areas are Kings Cross and Redfern, so be careful when walking in these areas. If travelling at night by train, it may be best to take a compartment beside the guards’ compartments, usually indicated by a blue light on the outside.
