The destination welcomed its first guests in 2023, and today hosts a growing collection of luxurious international resorts managed by prestigious hotel brands, alongside the Red Sea International Company. Shura Island, the heart of the destination, began receiving visitors in 2026, and currently includes three open resorts, with plans to develop 11 additional resorts, to make the island fully ready to receive visitors in the coming period.

The distinctive experiences in the destination include a range of thrilling land and marine activities, alongside cultural and natural adventures, offered by the tourism activity brands: "Wama" (above water), "Galaxia" (under water), and "Akun" (inside the island).

It lies within a flight range of no more than three hours for more than 250 million people, and eight hours for most of the world's population. Upon completion, the project will comprise 50 resorts, more than 8,000 hotel rooms, and more than 1,000 residential units, in addition to luxury marinas, golf courses, and recreational facilities by 2030. The project also commits to capping annual visitors at no more than one million for the Red Sea Project and 500 thousand for the Amala Project, in order to protect sensitive ecosystems.
