Sharjah Museums Authority Opens Registration for its Summer Camp

Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) invites children to enjoy an exceptional summer filled with learning and fun through its annual Happy Holiday Camp, taking place from 13 July to 20 August 2026 across five of its museums.

Designed for children aged 7 to 12, the camp offers a diverse range of educational and interactive programmes that combine heritage, culture, science, and discovery in a safe, stimulating, and engaging learning environment.

The camp aims to enrich children's knowledge in the fields of heritage, culture, and science while developing their creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

It also provides a comprehensive educational and recreational experience that encourages learning through exploration and hands-on discovery, helping participants build confidence and nurture their curiosity.

Sharjah Maritime Museum camp will host its programme from 13 to 23 July 2026 for children aged 7 to 9, will take its participants on a journey through Sharjah's rich maritime history with more than 670 artefacts spanning over 7,000 years and offers a unique opportunity to explore the UAE's maritime heritage.

Participants will also discover marine resources, traditional palm-based crafts, the types of wood used in boat building, and the fascinating world of pearls, while learning about the role of the Al Tawwash (pearl merchant), the duties of the boat crew, and the different names and grades of pearls through interactive workshops and engaging hands-on activities.

Alongside this, from 13 to 23 July 2026, the UAE's first and largest governmental marine education centre, Sharjah Aquarium which is home to a diverse range of fascinating marine creatures will welcome children aged 7 to 9.

Through interactive educational activities and hands-on workshops, children will learn about different marine creatures and their habitats, while developing a stronger awareness of marine protection, and building communication, team work, and creative thinking skills.

From 27 July to 6 August 2026, Sharjah Science Museum, one of the UAE's most engaging and interactive museums, will present a two-week programme for children aged 7 to 12 that encourages scientific curiosity and imaginative thinking.

The first week, designed for children aged 7 to 9, introduces participants to the enchanting world of butterflies, the five senses, scientific cooking, and exciting chemistry experiments.

During the second week, children aged 10 to 12 will engage in innovative science-based experiences in robotics, energy and applied sciences. Explore robotics, mirrors and light reflection, future energy solutions, and hands-on medical science activities through innovative experiments and interactive learning experiences.

During the same period, from 27 July to 8 August 2026, Sharjah Archaeology Museum - the first museum of its kind in the UAE and the first museum established in Sharjah - will host a programme for children aged 7 to 12.

Through interactive activities, games and hands-on workshops, the programme will take children on a journey through the ages to explore the development of human life and ancient civilisations, while building their exploration, analysis and creative thinking skills and strengthening their connection to heritage and history.

The camp will conclude at Sharjah Museum of Islamic Civilization, which houses more than 5,000 artefacts across six galleries on two floors and attracts visitors interested in Islamic history, science, culture and arts.

From August 10 to 20, 2026, the museum will host children aged 10 to 12 for a programme exploring aspects of Islamic arts and science through workshops in Arabic calligraphy, ornamentation, and artistic design.

Participants will also take part in scientific experiments and hands-on activities introducing them to professions and fields of knowledge linked to Islamic civilisation, including medicine, navigation, bookmaking, and coin minting.
