Three signers of the Declaration of Independence, Paul Revere, the five Boston Massacre victims, and Benjamin Franklin's parents lie in this small 1660 burying ground beside Park Street Church - the densest concentration of revolutionary graves in America, entered free from Tremont Street where the Freedom Trail passes the gate. The slate headstones themselves reward attention: winged skulls, hourglasses, and soul effigies carved in the stern Puritan style, weathered into accidental art. Visits run fifteen to twenty minutes of respectful walking on gravel paths; rubbings and leaning on stones are prohibited. For Muslim visitors accustomed to ziyarah etiquette, the reflective register feels familiar - a place of memento mori rather than spectacle.
