Visa Information for India

All foreign travellers wishing to visit India must obtain a visa to enter the country. Citizens of Nepal, Bhutan and the Maldives are exempt from this requirement.

Overview

All visa applicants must complete a visa application form. The form can be obtained from the visa section of the Indian consulate or embassy in the traveller’s country, or downloaded from the website. The completed application is then submitted with two photographs and a copy of the passport, including the first pages and the residence page for the country in which the applicant lives if they are not a citizen of that country.

Please check the following when applying for a visa to enter India:

1- The passport must be valid for at least six months after the date of departure from India, rather than the visa application date.

2- Attach one photograph and place the other in the designated space on the form.

3- Residents obtaining a tourist visa in a country other than their home country must provide evidence of residence there. If they cannot do so, they must pay an additional fee in the country of residence of 50 UAE dirhams, and issuing the visa will take additional time that may extend to 7 days.

4- Application forms must be completed in English only. Forms completed in Arabic will not be accepted. Please fill in every column and leave none blank.

5- Each visa application is handled differently, and the consulate may request additional information at any stage while considering it. Submitting the application with the prescribed fee does not guarantee that a visa will be issued.
