Abu Dhabi Airport Passenger Traffic Up 2.5 Per Cent
Published by Irhal
New figures released on Sunday show aircraft, cargo, and passenger traffic increased at Abu Dhabi International Airport in August, but the rate of growth slowed. The Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) said there was a 12.5 per cent rise in aircraft traffic in August compared with the same month last year, a 6.2 per cent increase in cargo movments and 2.5 per cent increase in passenger movement – compared to 10.3…

ADAC attributes the increase in air traffic movements to “the significant number of new airlines establishing routes from Abu Dhabi in the previous 12 months, as well as established carriers launching new routes.” Etihad Airways began service to Istanbul, Athens, Larnaca, and Chicago. The biggest market for Abu Dhabi International Airport is India, which had an 8 per cent increase in passenger traffic. Pakistan is the second biggest market, followed by the UK.
