"We are focusing our development in the UAE and want at least three new hotel projects in the pipeline during the next three years. We are watching the economic indicators and they are heading in the right direction," said Nierhaus, explaining that the Middle East region is far ahead of other markets as far as the hospitality industry is concerned.
He also said that the number of visitors to the UAE this year will be more than 10.4 million up from 8.7 million last year, and that investment in the region’s hospitality sector is showing signs of recovering after an 18-month halt.
The group is currently on track to open its Abu Dhabi project, the 377-room Regent Emirates Pearl hotel, in 2012, Nierhaus said.
