Autumn Tourist Season Begins In Omar’s Dhofar Governate

The busy autumn tourist season began in Omar’s Dhofar Governate in the far south. This marks the start of the holiday season which usually attracts tens of thousands of GCC tourists. Last year about 450,000 tourists visited Saleh, the main city in Dhofar, during the Khareef season. This is 24% higher than the previous year. The three month long Khareef season official ends on 21 September. The highlight of the season is the six week long Salalah Tourism Festival, held on Ateen plain outside the city. Visitors can also explore Dohar’s various historical and natural attractions including natural caves, sinkholes, springs, parklands, and ancient religious sites.
