Egypt’s successful revolution is showcased at Cannes as “Tamantashar Yom” – 18 Days – a two hours long movie which captures the personal trauma faced by Egyptians during the Tahrir Square uprising.
The presence of both these countries shows how cinema moves to the rhythm of world events. The United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Morocco are other Middle East countries represented at this year’s Cannes Festival.
The most anticipated films of this year’s Cannes Festival are The Tree of Life , directed by Terrence Malick and starring Brad Pitt and Sean Penn, and Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris . With fifty films, hundreds of screenings, and numerous stars of the entertainment galaxy, Cannes 2011 will bring its charm to the anticipating audience all around the world.
