Ras Al Khaimah welcomed today sailing enthusiasts who came to watch world class sailing yachts take part in in-port races at Al Hamra Marina and Yacht Club. Sailing Arabia- The Tour is an exciting journey that started from Manama (Bahrain) on February 10thand visiting marinas in Doha (Qatar), Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah (UAE) as well as Musandam and Mussanah before finishing in Muscat (Oman) on February 27th2013.
Speaking about the event, Victor Louis, Chief Operating Officer, Ras Al Khaimah Tourism and Development Authority said: “We, in Ras Al Khaimah, are proud to host the third version of this prestigious event as it is a perfect show-case opportunity to promote Ras Al Khaimah as a potential and important partner on an international sporting calendar as well as be highlighted worldwide by regional and international media.”
Sailing Arabia – The Tour was established in 2011 by Oman Sail, as a regional alternative to the internationally renowned Tour de France à la Voile - considered to be one of the world’s most famous offshore sailing events.
The UAE residents and visitors were part of this exciting sports event today, Sailing Arabia 2013 - The Tour at the Al Hamra Marina and Yacht Club and enjoyed a fun day out with friends and family where a variety of activities, entertainment for children and live music were Offered.
Recently Ras Al Khaimah has introduced RAK Sailing Academy, which was set up at the Al Hamra Marina Royal Yacht Club Under the leadership of Enrico Malingri di Bagnolo the courses are open to sailing enthusiasts of all ages, promoting this adventurous sport, where a variety of lessons are offered, from learning the basic techniques of how to handle a dingy to the more advanced skills required for open-water racing.
Al Hamra Marina and Yacht Club, operated by Al Hamra Real Estate Development, is the marina project located in the Al Hamra Village in Ras Al Khaimah. The Al Hamra Village is a luxury integrated community, located on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, approximately 45 minutes from Dubai, covering an area of 7.1 million square feet and includes 1.5 kilometres of pristine beaches, 1,089 villas and townhouses, 2,444 residential apartments, five resort hotels, an 18- hole golf course, clubhouse, marina and a shopping mall.
