The audience will see an unprecedented exhibition of talent and beauty in the physical art form with international guest performers from the prestigious Stuttgart Ballet Company and The Estonian National Ballet Company, as well as locally based dancers from The Bucharest National Opera House and BNF Dance Company alongside Sharmila’s professional team.
Sharmila Kamte, Founder, Choreographer and Creative Director of Sharmila Dance and Sharmila Dance Gala said: “It’s seldom that residents of Dubai have the chance to watch such a diverse selection of the finest dancers from the world’s top companies perform on one stage, in one sitting. As part of my ongoing aim to further develop talent and appreciation for the dance community in Dubai and the wider UAE, I’m proud to present the Sharmila Dance Gala, which promises to be a spectacular celebration of dance and an event of unmatched caliber for the UAE’s audience.”
Stars from the Stuttgart Ballet Company and The Estonian Ballet Company will be performing the classical ‘Pas de Deux’ from the timeless Sleeping Beauty and Nutcracker ballets, respectively. They are also scheduled to perform the cutting-edge contemporary pieces, ‘Little Monsters’ and ‘Time’.
The Gala will also feature locally based Ballerina, Loredana Elena Teodorescu, formerly a principal dancer from The National Bucharest Opera House, performing a ‘Pas de Deux’ with Columbian artist Jose Luis Quiceno from Swan Lake, a ballet that has been recently highly popularized by Hollywood’s box office hit ‘Black Swan’. A troupe from The BNF Dance Company, who hold the World Champion title in Latin Dance, are set to mesmerize the audience with their Tango and Salsa numbers. Furthermore, members of Sharmila Dance will show their versatility and captivate spectators through their performances in Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary pieces.
Dancers and cultural enthusiasts alike can also look forward to the annual Sharmila Dance Extravaganza, now in its 12th year, set to take place April 2012.
