Souq Okaz Cultural Festival Opens August 19

Makkaz Governor Prince Khaled Al Faizal will open the eight day Soaq Okaz festival on 19 August 2009. Festival events include poetry readings, art competitions, cultural seminars, and art and photography competitions. Two poetry prizes will be given out. Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities said Taif needs more development particularly in the downtown area in order to promote its potential for tourism during the summer and Ramadan seasons. He said Taif is currently experiencing a development boom.
