The locomotive and its wooden carriages had to be restored to their former glory, before pulling into the station and traveling on the railroad down memory lane.

Passengers could buy tickets for the nostalgic ride—exactly as Victorian-era travelers used to experience—from Kensington Olympia station, west London, through 12 other stations.

The steam train chuffed at 25mph through central London via the Circle line—journeying through stations Edgware Road, Baker Street, Kind’s Cross and the Barbican, before arriving at Moorgate station.

It’s been 150 years since the first underground train journey in London, of which the virgin voyage took place on Saturday 10 January 1863.
