TDIC Completes First Phase Of Al Bateen Wharf Renovation

TDIC Director for Public Relations and Events, Baseem Terkawi, said “We started the project in early 2009. The project will have three phases the last one being completed in 2013.” The first phase provides improved mooring facilities for fishermen. The marina’s mooring berths can now accommodate 323 fishing vessels varying in length from 10 to 18 meters. Each berth has running water, standard amenities, electrical power, and fire fighting equipment. The second phase of the renovation includes development of a fishermen’s community club, a luxury yacht marina, yacht club, underground parking facilities, and a boardwalk.
