Emirati food is the place to start if you want the city to feel rooted: rice dishes, seafood, spices, dates, Arabic coffee and hospitality rituals connect the meal to trading routes and Gulf homes. Add one traditional meal even if most of your trip is hotel or mall dining.
Halal food is widely available in Abu Dhabi, but Irhal should still separate halal confidence from alcohol policy. Many hotel restaurants serve halal meat while the venue or hotel may also serve alcohol; pork and alcohol practices should be checked per restaurant, not assumed by location.
The city’s dining corridors behave differently. The Corniche and central areas are convenient and varied, Saadiyat leans resort and museum-day polished, Yas is family and entertainment led, and Al Maryah or Al Bateen can work well for polished dinners without turning the evening into a long cross-city transfer.
