Transportation

Abu Dhabi is simple to move around, but not a city to underestimate by distance. Taxis, ride-hailing and zone-based planning make the capital feel calm rather than spread out.

Transportation

For most travelers, taxis are the backbone of Abu Dhabi transport. They are widely available at the airport, hotels, malls and major attractions, and they remove the friction of crossing from the Corniche to Saadiyat, Yas or the Grand Mosque corridor.

From Zayed International Airport

Zayed International Airport (AUH) has official taxi ranks, public buses, car-hire desks and pre-arranged hotel transfers. Follow airport signs and use designated transport areas; do not accept an unsolicited offer inside or outside the terminal. Taxis are usually the simplest choice for families, late arrivals or hotels on Saadiyat and Yas Island, while buses can suit travellers with lighter luggage and a known route.

Public transit

Abu Dhabi's public bus network connects the city island, mainland districts, airport corridors and major visitor areas. Hafilat cards and official route information are the practical starting points; some attractions and islands also provide shuttle or visitor transport. Check the live route, service hours and stop location before setting out because Abu Dhabi is spread across bridges and long arterial roads.

Taxi and ride-hailing

Abu Dhabi taxis operate from the airport, hotels, malls, attractions and marked ranks, and app-based services can be booked through approved platforms. Confirm the vehicle, plate and destination before entering, and keep the hotel address in Arabic and English. Taxis are especially practical for families, Saadiyat and Yas Island hops, late-night returns, desert outings and venues away from bus corridors.
