Abu Dhabi uses the UAE dirham (AED). Cards and contactless payments are widely accepted in hotels, malls, restaurants, taxis and attractions, while cash remains useful for small purchases, souks, tips and contingency use. Prices may include VAT; check the final bill and any service or tourism charge before paying, and remember that exchange rates and foreign-card fees depend on your bank.

Group stops by district before booking taxis or tours.

UAE public holidays and religious occasions can change government services, mall hours, attraction programming, traffic and restaurant schedules. Ramadan and Eid are especially important for Muslim travellers: daytime eating patterns, iftar reservations, prayer timing and evening crowds require a different rhythm. Abu Dhabi's festival calendar also changes by season, so check official dates before building a trip around an event.
