Ali Qapu Hotel:

Address: Chahar Bagh Avenue, Isfahan Phone: +98 311 222 7929 Fax: +98 311 221 6049 Email:     [email protected] Website: http://www.aliqapuhotel.com/enhome.html

Located conveniently in a secure residential neighborhood, away from the main tourist infested areas within the city, Ali Qapu offers convenience at a very modest price. The polite multilingual staff makes your stay a pleasant, memorable one, providing you general tips about the city’s best attractions, and even making taxi arrangements for you. You will not even need a cab for some of the most popular tourist sites, as these are located within a suitable walking distance from the hotel. As night falls, you can view the Zayandeh River with all its magnificent bridges slowly and magically light up. The lobby contains an internet café, a money changer, a delightful little shop selling handicrafts and local souvenirs, and a gift shop that sells general ornaments and toys. A small store right next to the hotel sells musical instruments – you can even catch some local musicians practicing there!

Rooms: Ali Qapu contains a total of 104 Deluxe Guest Rooms and Suites. All rooms are temperature controlled, and have cable television, an attached (and rather old-fashioned) bathroom, a mini-bar, and work desk. Basuc Single Rooms are IRR 714600, and Doubles at IRR 1141700 per night. The Suites cost from IRR 2000000 to IRR 2800000. Extra beds cost around IRR 300000, and children under the age of 5 can stay for free in the parents’ room. Room service is available 24 hours of the day. Laundry services on nominal charges.

Dining: 1.    Ali Qapu Restaurant: a grand restaurant with a seating capacity of around 150 people. Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Serves local dishes and a limited continental menu. Open for breakfast 6am to 10am, for lunch 12noon to 3pm, and for dinner 7pm to 1030pm. 2.    Ali Qapu Pizzeria: a modern, elegantly designed, and brightly illuminated pizza joint with seating for 150 people. Open only in the evenings, from 7pm to 11pm. 3.    Ali Qapu Coffee Shop: a warmly illuminated, nicely furnished little den that serves amazing coffee and some of the tastiest local desserts. Open 24 hours, it is a favorite destination for idling away extra time.

Health Facilities: The hotel contains a covered indoor swimming pool. A sauna and steam bath facility is also available.

Abbasi Hotel

Moderate Hotels

Originally a 300 years old mehmansarai (guesthouse for travelers) built by the Safavid ruler Shah Hussein as a tribute to his mother, the building of this hotel has been magnificently restored. It has been transformed into a splendidly nostalgic hotel that echoes with legacies of palatial life that are sinking into oblivion in today’s modern, fast-paced world. The hotel is built around a courtyard plan, a typical feature of public building planning by the Safavids. It contains four arcades that surround the central courtyard (a Chahar Bagh arrangement). The garden itself blossoms with colorful varieties of local flora, and contains fountains and stone sculptures that add to an almost magical, fairytale like setting. The very delicate detailing of this courtyard space can be used to compare it to the much larger, much grander Naqsh e Jahan Square in the city center.

What to do with Children in Tow

Activity

Isfahan is not a city geared specifically towards children. The air around the city is formal, sober, and one of intellect and reverence rather than frolic and merrymaking. The lack of amusement opportunities within the city is somewhat of a downside when you are bringing along a family with toddlers. The only best place you can take children is probably one of the numerous parks around the city. An evening of family-oriented fun for kids and adults alike will keep pestering kids at bay, while offering you relief from the pressures of the city center.
