Overview & visitor information

Safir Hotel

Address: Amadegah Street, Chaharbagh e Abbasi  Avenue, Isfahan Phone: +98 311 222 2640, +98 311 222 9412, +98 311 221 9931 Fax: +98 311 223 2176 Email: [email protected] Website: http://www.safirhotel.net/

Located within a very short walking distance from the city’s major monuments and public spaces, the Safir Hotel is a popular choice for businessmen and elite travelers when the Abbasi Hotel across the road has been filled up. Safir provides all the facilities similar to Abbasi, at a slightly lower price. Yes, the décor and the landscaping is nothing to be compared, but who is stopping you from checking in at Safir and going over to Abbasi to laze around in the lush garden courtyard over there? The multilingual staff at Safir is polite and helpful, especially about giving tips on navigating the city – bus routes, ticket information, the fastest way to get to a particular site without getting stuck in traffic, and the best restaurants and shopping neighborhoods. The hotel lobby provides free wireless internet. It also contains a separate internet café, a boutique and salon for ladies, a gift shop, and a local hand-woven carpet shop. Safir offers transport services from the airport, taxi and limo hiring services, as well as a car rental kiosk. A reliable money changer is located within the hotel. A free covered parking facility is available for hotel guests.

Rooms: The hotel has very clean air conditioned rooms, all with attached baths. Rooms are equipped with comfortable beds, cable television, free wireless internet, and mini fridges. Complimentary newspapers are delivered to each room every morning. Shoeshine service is delivered free of charge, and laundry services are provided on nominal rates. Room service is available 24 hours. A baby crib/cot as well as complete childcare services can be made available on request.

Dining: The hotel’s own restaurant serves three meals a day. Complimentary breakfast each day consists of traditional dishes like honey and jam on flat bread, eggs, and fresh fruits and vegetables. A small basement coffee shop serves light snacks and tasty coffee, although the ambience is quite grim and sober – not very captivating to keep you sitting there long after you have had your cup. The staff is polite, and helps you patiently through the menu if there is something you do not understand.

Health Facilities: The hotel contains an adequately equipped fitness center, including a gym. A sauna is also present.

Meetings & Events: Safir houses a Business Center that is open 24 hours of the day. It provides basic copying, printing, and faxing facilities, and offers services for the movement of postal bundles as well as large packages. High speed wireless internet can be arranged for business events on request.

Abbasi Hotel

Moderate Hotels

Originally a 300 years old mehmansarai (guesthouse for travelers) built by the Safavid ruler Shah Hussein as a tribute to his mother, the building of this hotel has been magnificently restored. It has been transformed into a splendidly nostalgic hotel that echoes with legacies of palatial life that are sinking into oblivion in today’s modern, fast-paced world. The hotel is built around a courtyard plan, a typical feature of public building planning by the Safavids. It contains four arcades that surround the central courtyard (a Chahar Bagh arrangement). The garden itself blossoms with colorful varieties of local flora, and contains fountains and stone sculptures that add to an almost magical, fairytale like setting. The very delicate detailing of this courtyard space can be used to compare it to the much larger, much grander Naqsh e Jahan Square in the city center.

What to do with Children in Tow

Activity

Isfahan is not a city geared specifically towards children. The air around the city is formal, sober, and one of intellect and reverence rather than frolic and merrymaking. The lack of amusement opportunities within the city is somewhat of a downside when you are bringing along a family with toddlers. The only best place you can take children is probably one of the numerous parks around the city. An evening of family-oriented fun for kids and adults alike will keep pestering kids at bay, while offering you relief from the pressures of the city center.
