Visa and entry requirements

Most foreign nationals travelling to New York for tourism need a B-2 or combined B1/B2 visitor visa unless they qualify for another route. The U.S. Department of State says eligible nationals of Visa Waiver Program countries may travel for tourism or business for up to 90 days without a visa, but they must obtain valid ESTA approval before boarding.
