As part of promoting tourism in the Sultanate, an agreement was signed with Unlimited Snow, a Dutch company, to construct the first snow village in Oman. The OMR 12 million project will part of the Palm Mall, a shopping center and entertainment complex in Muscat.
Sheikh Mahmoud bin Mohammed Jarwani, Chairman of Tamani Global Company and owner of the Palm Mall, said that the project was necessary to boost tourism to Oman. Tourism is currently at 2.6 per cent of the sultanate’s GDP, with the government hoping that this will rise in the coming year.
Palm Mall, being built at a cost of OMR 90 million, will also include a 12-screen cinema complex, a hotel and an aquarium. It is expected to be ready for business as of early 2017.
