Located within a convenient walking distance from the Naqsh e Jahan Square, this place is the first one in a series of museums that you will encounter as you walk along Ostandari Street from north to south.
The museum is housed within a charming 15th century building that is reminiscent of the traditional elegance of Persian architecture before the Safavids took over.
A group of rather sad, non-intimidating dinosaurs made of fiberglass greet you at the entrance to the museum, but do not let that disillusion you from what is contained within – a whole treasure trove awaits you inside, ranging from local varieties of centuries old plant and animal remains to modern archaeological discoveries, all related to Persian history.
A special section inside the museum displays bizarre embryos – human, animal, hybrid, who knows what these creatures that never got to see the light of day were? Make you guesses! This section is especially fun to explore with a group of friends young at heart, but should be avoided by children due to the sheer grotesqueness of the specimens placed within.
