Why visit
The Edirnekapı section of the Theodosian Walls offers the most accessible and intact segment of Constantinople’s land defenses, built in 413 AD and reinforced over centuries. Massive double walls, moats, and towers remain visible, giving a tangible sense of the city’s medieval fortifications.
What to see
Visitors can walk along the top of the inner wall for several hundred meters between Edirnekapı and Topkapı gates. The path is uneven stone but largely flat; local children and joggers use it regularly. Entry is free and the area is open during daylight hours.

Muslim travelers note the proximity to Mihrimah Sultan Mosque and the historic Fatih district; the walls themselves witnessed key moments in Ottoman history, including the 1453 conquest. The site pairs well with a visit to the Panorama 1453 Museum nearby.
Good to know
A practical note: the surface can be slippery after rain and there are no railings in places, so families with small children should supervise closely.
