Overview
Dress with particular care at active mosques, mausoleums and cemeteries: shoulders and knees should be covered, women may be asked to cover their hair, and shoes may need to be removed. Ask before photographing people, prayer or private ceremonies. Greet shopkeepers before negotiating, bargain calmly only where it is customary, and avoid loud public criticism of religious practice or family life. Hospitality is generous, but an invitation should not be treated as a commercial performance.
