The New York Botanical Garden's Holiday Train Show is a seasonal exhibition in which model trains travel through an elaborate miniature New York. Bridges, stations, skyscrapers and familiar civic landmarks are reconstructed from bark, leaves, seeds, twigs and other natural materials, linking railway craft with the Garden's botanical setting.
What to expect
The display is staged in the glass-domed Enid A. Haupt Conservatory, where the railway winds among living plants and architectural scenes. Its New York models have included historic and contemporary structures from across the boroughs, allowing children to recognize parts of the city while studying how ordinary plant materials become detailed buildings.

First presented in 1992, the exhibition has become one of the Garden's longest-running annual traditions. The surrounding Bronx landscape remains an important part of the occasion: winter collections, conservatory galleries and outdoor grounds place the miniature railway within a much larger institution devoted to plant science and horticulture.
