Why families will enjoy it
Ocean Wonders: Sharks! is a major New York Aquarium exhibit beside the Coney Island Boardwalk. The former title incorrectly associated it with the separate SEA LIFE brand; this is a Wildlife Conservation Society habitat focused on sharks, rays, sea turtles and marine ecosystems connected with New York's surrounding waters.
What to expect
A transparent coral-reef tunnel places blacktip reef sharks, zebra sharks, butterflyfish and other species above and around the viewing path. Canyon's Edge creates a darker, expansive encounter with sand tiger sharks, sandbar sharks and stingrays, while additional displays explain shark biology, movement and ecological roles.
Plan your visit
The exhibition contains more than 115 marine species and 18 kinds of sharks and rays. Its interpretation links spectacular animals with the Aquarium's conservation work, including local habitat protection, ecological monitoring and research in nearby coastal waters, giving the family attraction a distinctly New York marine context.
