Why dine here
Bungalow is chef Vikas Khanna's East Village restaurant at 24 First Avenue, developed with restaurateur Jimmy Rizvi. Its cooking ranges across India's twenty-eight states and draws on family recipes and Independence-era memories rather than reducing the menu to one regional school.
What to expect
The menu moves from smoked sweet-potato chaat and eggplant bharta to Anarkali chicken with pomegranate and chilli, Alleppey shrimp curry with coconut and tamarind, and lamb chops enriched with cashew butter and poppy seed. Saffron biryani and layered mango desserts extend the same balance of comfort and detailed presentation.
Before you go
Pale pink walls, murals, carved panels and domestic references support the restaurant's idea of hospitality as a homecoming. Michelin currently lists Bungalow as a Bib Gourmand. Third-party halal directories list the restaurant, but the operator's public site does not state a formal certification or describe kitchen separation.
