Why stay here
The Peninsula New York occupies a Beaux-Arts building at Fifth Avenue and East 55th Street, opened in 1905 as the Gotham Hotel. A recent renovation refreshed its rooms and public areas while retaining the limestone façade, grand staircase and compact scale of the historic property.
The experience
Rooms and suites balance pale contemporary finishes with residential details, and larger layouts add living rooms or multiple bedrooms. Clement restaurant and Gotham Lounge operate within the lower floors, while Pen Top uses the roof for dining and city views above the Midtown avenues.
Before you book
The wellness floors combine a spa, fitness centre and glass-enclosed indoor pool. The hotel’s official material does not document gender-segregated pool or spa hours, nor private dining arranged by family gender; those unsupported imported claims have been removed in favour of specific, verifiable facilities.
